A Magical Change: Real Stories of Hiring a Corporate Event Magician

Writer: Spencer GreySpencer Grey

Magician Spencer Grey here. I'm back and excited to share some case studies, some real stories about my experiences working as a corporate event magician.

I perform at hundreds of events every single year, and a large majority of them are corporate events. I want to share a little bit about the impact that hiring a magician can have at your event, whether this is for a large conference, trade show, networking event, gala, holiday party, or one of the other many applications.

Without further ado, let's get into it.

Magic as a Marketing Tool in Trade Shows

I talk a lot about magic tricks as more than just entertainment, but also as a tool, especially in the context of a corporate event. The biggest event type that I see benefiting from magic are trade shows. Be sure to check out some of my other videos or blog articles on this topic for more information about bringing a trade show magician to your event.

Magicians do more than just entertain. They help to draw in a crowd to your company's booth and can lead to an increase in engagement, leads and sales, and brand awareness.

Case Study: Affiliate Summit West

One of the very first trade shows I worked at was Affiliate Summit West in Las Vegas. I worked with a company called Search Partners.

Search partners offered services that were a bit difficult to understand, even for those in attendance at the trade show who worked in the same industry. Search partners were offering something brand new that had never been done before. So many booth visitors didn't fully understand the concept. And that can be a challenge, especially when trying to acquire new customers and educating the industry on your new idea.

I was brought on board to not just assist with drawing attention to the booth, but also to help communicate and educate visitors on this company's unique services.

As a corporate event magician, I would use my magic to incorporate a little bit about what this company did to help illustrate and make it more easily digested. I make explaining the company's services more engaging and entertaining.

Once I've got their attention and they understand a little bit about what this company does and the benefits to working with this company and purchasing their service, I would hand it off to a more educated sales member on our team, to take it to the next step and further engage and educate the potential client.

Key Takeaways for Trade Show Organizers

Not only did this make the booth fun and engaging and helped draw in leads. It also helped communicate what was once a hard to understand concept or service to new potential customers in a fun and engaging way.

This is the perfect example of how magic can be used, not just as a form of entertainment, but as a valuable sales and marketing tool.

Corporate Event Magician as a Networking Tool

Another example of where magicians can help shine is networking events often in the form of either a light dinner or a cocktail hour. While roaming the event, performing close up magic for I'm often introducing one person to another, helping to form connections.

You can think of me as a matchmaker, but in the professional world!

By giving corporate event guests a magician to get excited about, it creates a shared experience that lasts long after my performance. I am able to step away and allow for new bonds and connections to naturally progress. What started as excitement over a magic trick now turns into talk about sales or marketing or technology or whatever that industry is.

Magic for Employee Morale and Appreciation

And finally, while we've talked a lot about how a magician can benefit your business directly. Group morale is another area where magic can shine. I attend many employee appreciation parties throughout the year.

My performances, whether onstage or close up, can help create a buzz of excitement and give people a much needed break from work and allow them to have a great time.

The Importance of Celebrating Employees

Not every company event should be about networking or sales or business related items. Instead, it's important to give employees something that is strictly fun, strictly as a way to say thank you, we appreciate you and all of your hard work.

A magician is the perfect way to celebrate your employees hard work by giving them a fun and memorable activity that they will remember for a lifetime.

This has the benefit of increased work ethic and overall morale at the company. By showing employees that you care and are more and are interested in more than what they have to offer in terms of work.

Why Magic is Underutilized in Corporate Events

I'm always excited to share these stories, because I am a big believer that magic is a powerful tool underutilized in the corporate world. It's becoming more popular as the years go on with the rise of things like social media. We're able to celebrate new ideas and innovations when it comes to planning events in the workplace.
